Mission

The goal of my classes is not to maximize your score on a math competition. That said, most of the problems we do in class are taken from math competitions, as math competitions are a great way to learn math more deeply.

The goal of my classes is to help you learn math as well as possible. A side-effect of this should be that you are able to do better in math competitions.

If your goal is math competition related, I encourage you to do problems from various contests outside of class and outside of any homework I may assign. That being said, I think math competitions are just for fun, but there is some value in being able to do most of the problems on the AMC’s and AIME.

Hopefully, whatever your math goals are, you can learn to think about the world through a probabilistic lens, and learn a healthy amount of skepticism of the news you hear.
